A hammer mill (or impact mill) is a grinding machine. It breaks down a wide variety of materials quickly to different grades of coarseness depending on the application. In particular the machine can handle highly heterogeneous material mixtures.

Hammer mills are used as grain and feed mills, in the food industry, for crushing wood waste, plastic waste and elsewhere.
